Co-curricular activities


The atmosphere of Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science & Technology is very encouraging for the students to participate in various sports & games. Beautiful playground, large common room, equipped with various modern sport kits surely motivate the students.

GNIPST Sports committee organizes Intra college cricket tournaments & Intra college Football tournaments annually. These events work as a ventilation to the students in their routine study. They actively participate & make the events great success.

Beside these, competitions on various outdoor & indoor games, like, Table tennis, Badminton, chess, carom etc go on throughout the year with great enthusiasm…

This year the students participated in various events of Inter College Athletic Meet & won Gold medals. The institution has also been awarded runners’ trophy of Champion of champions. Also the cricket team of GNIPST took part in the Inter college T-20 cricket tournaments.

Cultural Programs

Each year events of cultural programmes start with Freshers’ Welcome & ends with Reunion. This long gap is filled with Quiz competition, debate, Pre-puja celebration, Rabindra jayanti, Farewell to the final year students, and many other colorful programs. The celebration of Students’ day of National Pharmacy Week was a great cultural events. Observation of various Health Days, like World Cancer day, World no-tobacco days, World Diabetes day etc are the integrated parts of the culture of GNIPST.

Research Activities


Pharmacy is a multidisciplinary subject and it covers a wide research area ranging from the design, synthesis, testing and evaluation of mechanism of action of synthetic and herbal drugs, to studies on novel drug delivery and preclinical aspects.

Teachers and students are actively engaged in different projects. The institution provides all the facilities for the successful completion of the projects. For better exposure of the students the institution regularly organizes number of seminars on different associated fields. We have collaborations with number of different reputed research lab & institutions.

Numbers of projects are on the anvil and it is expected that this would be a continuous process in the years to come. To meet challenges of Pharmacy professionals and Industry, the department is introducing the concept of specialization at the under graduate level itself.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

  • Synthesis and evaluation of various bioactive compounds,
  • Isolation and evaluation of various bioactive compounds,
  • Structural elucidation and analysis of various bioactive compounds using UV-VIS Spectrophotometer and other spectroscopic analysis and chromatographic studies.
  • Analytical studies of various marketed drugs and formulation.
  • Study of various drugs & bioactive compounds for their effect on different biochemical parameterss.
  • Molecular modeling & QSAR studies of different novel pharmacophores.


  • General pharmacological screening of new moieties from synthetic and natural sources.
  • Toxicological studies of bioactive molecules (natural and synthetic sources).
  • Screening for Analgesic, Antiinflammatory, Antipyretic, Antidiabetic, Antifertility, Antioxidant, Antimicrobial activity, CNS activity study, Hematological studies..
